Call from Mike DeMazza
I got a call this morning from Mike Demazza from the Houstatonic Valley Regional High School, who said he heard about Brtt's project through sandy and wanted to know more about it. When I told him about it, he told me that his high school group raises money for water related issues and that they were going to send Brett a check for $365, a dollar for each day of the year.
He told me that he started the group at the high school about 5 years ago, after reading an article in Time magazine about Lifestraw.

The Luau
Brett stayed at the table selling straws and telling people about Lifestraws for four hours with a few breaks here and there to check things out at the Luau. When he stepped away, Skylar would take his place. People were impressed by his presentation and his "salesmanship" qualities. By the end, he was walking around peddling them to anyone who would listen to him.

She said "yes"
On Monday, Mrs. Goodman told him that he could set up a table at the school Luau to sell crazy straws, which the school ordered. And, that he could make a poster to hang up in school.
We had an extra poster board from Skylar's project, so he chose pictures and information from the internet and glued them all on to make a poster.

The Principal's office
Mrs. Goodman emailed me back and said we could come in to talk to her about Brett's idea. When I got to school, she called him down, and he told her about his idea. She said she really liked his idea, it tied in to their upcoming fundraiser for the Clean Water Initiative and that she would talk to the VP about it and let him know on Monday. She told him that he is the kind of student they want at Jeffrey School and said that we should be very proud of him for thinking of people and wanting to help.
After school, Brett told Skylar and Bill that she said he was the best kid in the school, that's how she made him feel.

Just Hit Send
I was terrified to ask brett's principal if he could sell the straws in school. I wrote her email saying that Brett had an idea that he wanted to ask her about and said I would be in school tomorrow afternoon. It took all of my courage to hit send.
